TEJANO MUSIC was dominated by male singers. Selena overcame the prejudices and championed the genre. She sang in Spanish, primarily, but she sang in English as well. Selena was a fashion icon and her style became timeless. Selena was a good dancer with no formal training. Her signature move was her spins. Selana was well know for her voice, music, dancing, smile, beauty, and humbleness. She was tragically murdered by her fan club manager and boutique manager, Yolanda Saldivar. She shot Selena at a motel, when Selena met her to retrieve tax and other documents. Saldivar had been imbezzing funds from Selena's fan club and boutiques. Saldivar shot Selena in the back, as she was leaving. It was late morning on March 31, 1995. Selena was 23 years old. She has remained an icon. She has had a day attributed to her, has a star in the walk of Fame, had a commerative stamp in her name, and had a cosmic line in her honor. Time magazine dedicated a volume in her honor. 😢❤😊

Nov 10 1975 this happened. to this day every November 10 the old mariners church in Detroit still rings the bell 29 times. Omthe Nov10 following Lightfoot's death they rang the bell 30 times. It happened so quickly there was no time to react. Every penny this song made went to the families of the sailors. he didn't make a single cent from this song.

The context of this song is the still standing Cold War. Germany was still divided and dying due to a nuclear nuke was always a possibility. I think the song is about enjoying younghood because it is impossible to know when it will end. It could also be about being forever young in spirit, and finally to die young (and 'live forever young' in eternal life). This final comment could explain the final scene of the video. Those people are dead but then get up to listen Alphaville. The singer points to the portal with the blinding light. The deceased people access the portal while a sad keyboard synth solo is being played. The portal could be a metaphor of eternity.
